typesetting

Typesetting is a documentary series that explores the relationships between graphic and type designers, their work and the cities they live in. The pilot 6-episode season was shot during one month in Eastern and Central Europe in 2012 and features interviews from some of the best designers in each country.

The aim of the series was to expand the idea of “design inspiration” to a more in-depth examination of the work. Instead of merely showing a small 150×150 px .jpg of a project, typesetting tries to explore the historical, cultural and environmental impact of the artists’ surrounding area on each designer’s work.

Full team includes: Mat Budelman (video editor, designer), Alice Du (designer), Sue Kwong (intern). All art direction done collaboratively between myself and Mat Budelman.
